  • I’ve noticed that some plugins really slow down my site. How does one optimize ones WordPress install. I’m interested in getting the out-of-the-box WP optimized, not by a super cache system, but by avoiding plugins that slow the system down. To see what I’m using visit:

Is there a plugin that works for checking the functionality of the plugins?

Note: I’m using the latest WordPress.

  • You’ve got a lot of things going on there. Anything that has to call information from a remote server is always going to slow you down. Go over that long list of plugins and figure out which ones you really can’t live without. Deactivate the others one at a time and see what happens.

I’ve been experimenting with all those plugins for use on other sites, and I’m whittling it down to the bare essentials (which constitute one big bear). Apart from shutting things on and off, which has been instructive, is there any thing I can monitor?

This site is very handy. Try testing page load times with different plugin combinations.

Seems plugins using Java scripts really hang up my site. Any thoughts on that?
