Hi people,
I've been looking around for hours for the answer to this question and can't find a solution:
Does anyone know if there’s a way to hide certain categories in 2.3?
I found this great plugin ("category visibility" - http://ryowebsite.com/?p=46) but it doesn't seem to work in 2.3 (although fine in 2.2). This plugin hides a category and its posts from archives, sidebar, front-page and search area. Its super and if anybody knows of anything that would do exactly the same in 2.3 or could update the plugin I would really appreciate it.
I'm fairly new to PHP (and these forums) so go easy on me! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Matt
I wanted to suggest this plugin:

but seemingly is also incompatible with 2.3

Yes I have seen that and tried it. No go I'm afraid. Thanks for reply - can anyone else help? Could anybody modify one of these plugins so they work in 2.3 - is that hard to do? How would you go about doing it?

I need this too. I'm updating 4 homepages to 2.3 and needs catvis or similar plugins badly.
Well there's always the trusty template tag, query_posts, if you can't find a plugin.
Also check http://codex.wordpress.org/Plugins/Plugin_Compatibility/2.3
