   Do I need to log into the wp-dashboard? Right now i can't and can only go into the main webpage. What do I do to open up wp-config.php?

   You would need to use FTP or your hosting company's file manager to open wp-config. This can usually be found in the root directory of your WordPress install.

   It's best practice to ALWAYS make a backup of any file you are modifying so you can restore it just in case.
