so I've been using wordpress via the web so far, however i just downloaded and installed it to my computer. so i have a few questions.

    1. how do i "link" my wordpress from the web to the wordpress i just downloaded.

    2. are the plugins the only available for use using the desktop version of wordpress because the option doesnt show up on my dashboard as of right now.

    3. i saw somewhere that i couldnt use google ad sense if i paid for my domain thru wordpress i have to get hosting elsewhere is this true? if so what should i use?

idk if this will help but my site is http://www.reasonablydoubted.com

Do you want to replicate same website on your desktop for development or you want to host it on your server.

If you mean WordPress.COM then not really as it's a service. We don't support those blogs here and that's not something you can download.

I'm just mentioning that to be complete. ;)

But if you would like to play with an instance of WordPress.ORG's software on your desktop that can only be viewed by yourself on that same PC then consider downloading and installing InstantWP.

If you are running a PC then it's easy to work with and once you've installed and executed it then point your browser to http://127.0.0.1:4001/ and you can use the software.

you have installed wordpress on your desktop now you need to import posts and pages. you can download xml file from your wordpress.com blog and import it on local machine
You can export (download) xml file using tool menu on wordpress.com dashboard.
