How do I stop two audio files playing simultaneously?

    I have a video background on my site’s main page that launches with the site. I have links to YouTube videos and audio files on this site. When someone clicks on one of those links the main video continues playing. The result is two audio tracks playing simultaneously.

    Is there some code to stop the main page video from playing once the user clicks on any type of link? Either that or mute the main page video’s audio track when a link is clicked?

    I’m able to mute all the audio for the main video in theme options but I still want it to play when the site is launched.

    The video plays through the wordpress template’s own player, not youtube or vimeo. The video file is stored on the same domain as the rest of the WP files.
