   I was wondering, is there an option for an "email list" that people could sign up to receive notifications?

   There is not such an option in a default WP install, or a plugin afaik.

   Okay thanks, but any 3rd party program that I could possibly use, that users could sign up on, and I could send out "new story notifications" .. any help would be much appreciated!

   I use Listmessenger, it is not too dificult to integrate to your site's design.
