How do I set up a temporary 'under construction' page while I edit my site? (4 posts)

I feel like this question has already been answered, but I just can't seem to find exactly how to do it, so forgive me! I'm editing my wordpress site & I made a temporary index page I want to show for the next few hours while I make changes.

I tried pointing my url http://www.madebywe.org to a different folder on my host, but then I can't log in to wordpress to edit the site. :/

    Any help?

Again, I feel like this is a simple fix but I just can't figure it out! Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had the same problem but then found an easy solution :

Go to your .htaccess file at the root of your site directory (or create one if it doesn't exist), then insert anywhere : DirectoryIndex yourtemporarypage.html

Then to connect to your admin account : http://yourdomain/wp-admin/index.php

    That should work. :)
