    I have just installed wordpress, but whats a bother to me allot of the folders i have to set to permision which leave all the index pages open, some are even set to 777 .....

    Is their a plugin i can use to possibly mask people from having access to my index pages ?

    Hi,

    If you do have an shell access then you can do it with chmod command otherwise you have to contact your service provider to change the permissions which you desire..but make sure it set properly..and 777 may cause the problem of hack with your blog...

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

    bs. nearly every decent ftp client has the built-in ability to change permissions (chmod)

    awjm,

    you do not to have any files or directories with wide open permissions.

    files == 644
    directories == 755

    ^^ those are the safe and sane permissions.

    Filezilla is a free and popular FTP client, and can be used to change chmod directory permissions:
