My Site has five “pages”. One of them is “About Us”

Not too long ago, a couple of my pages disappeared, got hacked, or something. I had gone to great lengths to get the text on the “About Us” page to be just right — and then, POOF!, it was gone.

I have backups of my site, going back to before the crash, including the SQL database and all the contents from the FTP storage.

How can I find the TEXT that was on that page before it was nuked?
Where do I look? I just need the plain text. I don’t need to ‘restore’ the page, unless that would be a better, simple thing to do.

    HELP!

  • Since page (and post) content is kept in the database, you might create a new database, and restore that backup into the new database and look at wp_posts to find that text.

Actually you could just open the .SQL (backup file) with a text editor and you should see the post there also.

Thank you so much! That did the trick!

I was also able to retrieve some of the HTML code that went with the page, so I can remember how I had it formatted. Heck, I can probably paste that whole retrieved section right into the NEW “About US” page and it ought to look just like the old one.

    THANKS SO MUCH Michael!
    🙂
