I moved from WP.com to a self-hosted blog on DreamHost. When I imported my old entries, the "About" page got renamed into "about-2". I deleted the automatic WP "about" page, and I am trying to rename "about-2" into "about" (both via WP admin dashboard), but the change is not sticking - I can still access "about" page from my domain, and after I change the name of "about-2", it reverts back.
How do I make my "about-2" page become my "about" page?
Instead of changing the title of the page, click on EDIT on the permalink area and change the name there.
Go to the page you want to edit and under the title you should see small text that says permalink...and next to it an EDIT button.
Admin > Pages > Edit > Then choose the page you want to edit.
Edit the Permalink and hit OK, then Update the page too.

Hey both - yes, I tried editing the permalink before (as I described in the question, but probably not very clearly). The root of the issue was that my "about" page was still in the Trash so technically still "alive". So here is how the issue got resolved:
1) "about" page - permanently deleted from Trash
2) "about-2" page - permalink changed to "about" - this time the change went through and stuck
Thanks all! It now works the way I want it to.

I had this same problem. One of my pages was called "book-2" and would not let me rename it to "book". I could not find anything in the trash. I finally realized that my homepage had originally been named "book". Although I had renamed it, under quick edit I discovered the slug was still named "book". Once I changed that, I was able to change the URL of my book page from "book-2" to "book". Thanks heavens.

I haven't been so lucky. Simply can not figure out how to get rid of this page. I've got about-2 and apparently also about, although I cannot find the about url page anywhere. Any suggestions? Is there another location where the trash can be accessed since it's not showing up on the Edit page screen. Thanks
