    http://mangalorestudents.in/wp/?p=7

    this is line1
    this is line2
    this is line3
    this is line4

See how I the 4 lines above...there is no space in between but when I post the same thing in wordpress post...it has all these spaces in between...

( I posted them from notepad to the post using "paste as plain text" )

    Thanks for your help !!

Don't place each line in its own paragraph.

I have not done any formatting yet,...
all I have done is pasted these 4 lines from notepad...and they show up with extra space between each line...

what should I do not to place each line in its own paragraph...

Delete the space between each line and press shift-enter instead of just enter to get a line break instead of a paragraph.

That was helpful, thanks Helen !

Here is how I used to do it in the past ...

I would paste all the lines into the post from notepad using "paste as plain text"

Then select all the lines and change the format to say "Address" instead of "Paragraph" and then just remove the italics...

But for some reason now in word press I am not able to remove the italics ?

what you suggested works perfectly fine, its just that I have to go to each line and remove the spacing and then press shift-enter....and I sually have 10 to 20 lines...everytime... -:(

Since you're pasting as plain text, try pasting into HTML view and then going back to Visual - if there is only one line break between each line, it should translate that way when you go back to visual. If you've got double line breaks, then you really don't have much of a choice except to fix it by hand or do a search-and-replace.

If you choose the "Address" format, that's actually using the HTML tag <address> which, depending on your theme's CSS, may very well come out in a different style than you are expecting. Don't use it unless it really is an address.

    Thanks Again !
I have tried HTML in the past...and it used to bring in some strange characters sometimes...the last strange ones I remember are question marks or something similar...

In any case today when I try the HTML it seems to work -:)

Will keep my fingers crossed !

    Regards,

PS - I had also tried it on the day you suggested this and it would not work, but today it did....
