Support » Themes and Templates » How do I reinstall content/theme 755 which I deleted?

  • I deleted some directories 755 when uploading a theme. How can I reinstall these directories? My blog showed up blank before and now has this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/kaiposce/public_html/index.php on line 2

    Thanks for any help.

  • Which directories did you delete? The 755 refers to the permissions that the directories have.

Can you log into the admin and then change the theme? If this works, just reinstall the theme in the correct directory.

Otherwise, you might have deleted the directories that make wordpress work and need to reinstall.

Thanks so much for your reply. I deleted the classic and default theme and now my page shows up blank. I tried uploading a theme and got the above error message.

I am thinking of uninstalling WordPress altogether. I’ve tried everything to reinstall from reading other posts. I’ve tried downloading WordPress Install again and just uploading the default and classic themes but it still doesn’t show on my site. It still shows the same error message.

I’ve posted at Blue Host in case it’s something that needs to be fixed on their side. I also changed the permission for the default from 644 to 755 because I recall that was the permission before.

    Thanks for any help.

Have you gone back to the admin and selected another theme after uploading one?

As far and I know Bluehost have heaps of WPs running – I have a few running there as well and haven’t had any trouble.

Make sure that you are uploading themes to the correct location blog/wp-content/themes/ and then login to the WP admin, go to Presentation and you should see thumbnails of themes to choose from.

If you cannot login to admin or cannot see themes after uploading and checking that you have uploaded in the right spot, maybe use Fantastico to remove and then add a new version of WordPress for you and start again.

    Aloha Robmader,

I just did what you suggested and it’s still not showing. Now I think I’ll uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks so much for your time and advice.
