How Do I move my movable type database from my old domain, to my new domain? I currently have my old movable type database, no movabletype though, it puked so I nuked all the files, just the database remains, on my old host, jon-west dot net, and have since migrated to wordpress on my new domain, with a different host, jonathanwest dot org. Now the question I have is how do I move my old movabletype database to my new host without losing anything, and import all my old entries from it into my newer wordpress database. I looked at the conversion info in the codex, but that seems to apply on if you still have movable type installed, which I don't...just the database, on the wrong host at that...any ideas? Thanks for anybody who can help me pull this one off.

If you have phpmyadmin, you can export the database:

Okay, I am moving MY WP site to DREAMHOST from Hosting Matters. I exported the database, but now I am stuck on how to dump it into the Dreamhost server. Everywhere I look I get "telnet" or "SSH". It is all greek to me.

  4. Assuming that you have followed Podz' backup instructions to export the database, just follow Podz' restore instructions to import the database.

Or, just follow the instructions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_to_a_new_server#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server

OK, did the MySQL Dump file and restored it on my new host to a separate database...now is it possible to import all my old MT entries from the restored DB to my primary WP DB? Thanks.
