i want to know how to make a new page in to my home page

    1. Create new page
    2. Go to Settings -> Reading
    3. Choose “A static page” under “Front page displays”
    4. In the “Front Page” select box choose the page you created
    5. Save

If you want a post page create blank post name it what ever you want no content and publish
in Setting >>>Reading select the blank as post page

so if i have a static page my post wont go on there. is there a way to make a post to appear on different pages or categories of my choice

so if i have a static page my post wont go on there.

    no.

i want to make a new home page how do i do this

what is the reason that you want to change the front page anayway? if you keep it as it is, it will normally show the posts.
to customize just the posts page (front page) you could create a home.php and customize that, this will then show posts.

is there a way to make a post to appear on different pages or categories of my choice

    for different pages:
    one possibility:
    create a page template
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Pages
add a custom query to that template to define what posts to show.

    other possibility:
create a front-page.php template; this will take over to display the static front page; to make this show posts, add a custom query before the loop, similar as you might do in page template.

    for categories:
    try category templates http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates

i published a page after i made my new home page static and it didnt go on the home page

I’m guessing you made page A your static page, published page B, but still see page A as your home page.

That’s right. You made page A static. If you want to change it, edit page A directly, or change the static page to page B.

If you mean instead that you edited page A and published and there’s still no change, try force refreshing your browser by pressing ctrl/cmd + f5.

so if i have a static page my post wont go on there. is there a way to make a post to appear on different pages or categories of my choice

Create a blank posts page and define it as the posts page in Settings->Reading.

To create pages for different categories, you’ll have to create your own category templates.

i have tried adding stuff to my static page how would i make it more of a layout feel like Digital Spy or something like that

please post a link to your site to illustrate what you have so far.

how would i make it more of a layout feel like Digital Spy or something like that

you will need a very good understanding of html, css, and php (and wordpress functions) to achieve that.
guiding anybody through this is probably beyond the possibility of this forum.

for general information, you already have been given links to the corresponding codex chapters.
