How do I incorporate a wordpress blog into my site? (3 posts)

Hi there, I'm brand new at this so please be patient!

I'd like to incorporate a blog as part of a site I'm building. As one of the navigational "tabs." Something like this:

    home - about - blog - contact
    -----------------------------

You get the idea, and I'd like my visitors to be able to click on 'blog' and have the blog still retain the look and feel of my site. I'm using a nice CSS template to build this site, and I'd like to use wordpress as my blog engine.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Do I have to use a 'wordpress' template to customize the blog, or can I use the CSS template that I'm using to build the rest of my site?

    2. How do I just use wordpress to make a blog page on my site, not a blog-as-a-website sort of thing that it appears wordpress is mainly used for.

    Thanks!

For Q2 and for your navigation just use a link to http://www.website.com/WOrdPress or where ever you install WP.

You could probably use WP to look exactly like your site but that would require working in PHP. AFAIK you will have to modify the style.css, substitute a new header file and maybe a footer to look like your site.

Being familiar with CSS is a big help. Find a style that is similiar to your site, i.e. 1, 2, or 3 colums or just use the default theme. Replace the *header.jpg file with your header. NOTE: you need your header to be the same size and/or you will need to do some work in a graphics program. Then start changing the style.css to match the fonts and colors on your site.

The php experts here may have a better way. It really depends on what you decide will work for you.

    My site
    My blog
will give you a rough idea as far as the heading and colors.
