[resolved] How do I hide subpages from the drop down nav bar without making them private? (6 posts)

I am pretty new to WP and I'm still finding out how it all works.

Does anybody know if it is possible to hide certain pages from the drop down menu on the main navigation bar without making them private?

Basically, at the moment, I have a main header called cross stitch designs, from which a list of pages (Like categories drops down) such as "characters" and then those pages have subpages which are the individual product pages.

It all seems a bit long winded, so what I want to do is keep the initial drop down menu but rather than that popping out a huge long list of characters to chose from, you just click on "characters"page and hey presto you get a page full of clickable thumbnails that are each linked to their individual product page.

Is this possible? Has my question made sense?

If you want to go to my home page to see what I mean, its

Thanks in advance for any help offered x

OK So i've worked out how to stop the subpage's title showing up when you scroll down the main drop down menu, but there is still an empty white box that appears where it was.

Anyone know how I can get rid of this?

Do not edit the Twenty Eleven theme. It is the default WordPress 3.2 theme and having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues.

Create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

Or, alternatively. create a custom menu instead.

If I was to create a custom menu, would it allow me to choose which pages appeared in the drop down menu then? I realise that products each have to have a page created, I just don't want them all appearing in the drop down bar as some categories have a ton of products!

Thanks Esmi, creating a custom menu seems to have done the trick! x
