How do I get wp.me shorturls (ma.tt mentioned here) working in my wordpress.org blog with the Plugin: WordPress.com Stats? There was no explanation, I don't see it after enabling the plugin and I don't find info searching.
People talking about it on mashable seem to be saying in comments it can be done.
No one seems to know in the comments areas of the articles linked above or in the plugin forum here.
Is there a better forum to ask this kind of question aout the functioning of wordpress ma.tt describes?
i think it will be enabled automatically in future versions of the stats plugin.

hey ravi,
Is that deductive reasoning? Or, did you hear that somewhere?
I just want to establish the strongest system for a schools website I am working with. The wp.me model being owned by Automatic - and integrated into Automatic's plugin - is best by my estimate. I don't want my shorturl system company owner to go out of business suddenly - as happened this month.
The wp.me stuff is a WordPress.COM feature. You can't use it on your self-hosted blog right now.
Matt said that it would be working its way into self-hosted sites via the stats plugin, but there's no timeframe on when.

ah! thanks Otto. That's subtle.
In response to the preceeding comment;
This utterly rocks! Will it be working its way into the self-hosted version?
ma.tt said;
Yes, if you run the stats plugin.

As of version 1.6 of the Stats plugin, this seems to be enabled. Woo-hoo.
