How do I get rid of the comment boxes

Hi, I’m constructing my site, a rebuild, and somehow all my pages now have this comment box at the bottom. I don’t want or need any interaction with readers and would like to tidy the pages, how do I get rid of these boxes?
Is there a box under controls that says ‘allow comments’? I thought there was, but can’t find it anywhere.

I made a new page after editing some changes that I though would help and this new page does not have the comment boxes, and I wonder if my changes have fixed it. If that is the case, the problem now is that it didn’t fix them all globally. Would I have to remake all 50 pages from scratch to get rid of them?
uh oh, horrible thought. I made them all because I thought there was a tick box that would make it go away on all of them.
