how do i get a permanent post to be at the top of a catagory page?

    can someone tell me how i can have a single post to sit at the top of a category page?
    should i use a plugin for this?
    the only thing is – i want all other posts to be in order of entry

    or would it be better to hard code this?
    if so, how would i do this?
