how do I find out how many views a specific tag or custom tag/term has had. This may seem strange as these tags/terms are really just an archive type of page but trust me I really need this feature.

    Thanks heaps.

Ok I had someone code a plugin for me to count and display the number of views of
    1. A category
    2. A tag
    3. A custom taxonomy tag

WordPress doesn't allow meta data in these as they are merely meant to group stuff, not display their own data, however I use tags like posts for certain reasons and therefore need to see this extra information...

The coder may be uploading this plugin later as when I paid him it was on the condition it was released as GPL. So if you'd like the plugin feel free to email me.

I hook all my sites up with Google Analytic - that will tell you everything about your views

    Even each individual tag?

Yeah, in analytics you would go on content and in the search box you can search whatever page or query you wanted to see the views for or view them all together.

Cool but this way is a bit /lot simpler to see the stats. The coder is giving the plugin a sort feature too.

Ok no worries, analytics will obviously have a sort filter as well, its made by google! But like you said it won't be as simple, but it is free and will give you a lot more in depth information about your site, everyone uses it!

Correct me if I am wrong but using a plugin to register the views if it is done like the wp-postviews can help you make an algorithm to manipulate you taxonomies's order or query based on them.

Google Analytics enables you to view how many times the tag archive page was viewed but you miss all the content and query manipulation features.
