How do I export my database? (4 posts)

I have looked at phpMyAdmin.jpg and have no way to access any tables for export. All I have is a cross hair - not cursor to select anything.
    Very frustrated. Thanks.

My wp is running locally on MAMP and I need to export the database over to a host

If you are using MAMP you should be able to open http://localhost:8888/MAMP/
From there click phpMyAdmin in the top bar
And the list of databases will appear on the left
Click one of those and it should display a list of tables and then a tab on the right should say Export

If you do not see the above, where does it start going wrong?

    Brilliant! Thanks. It worked, but....
I was able to get to all of this but when I click "Go" - WHERE does it go?
I need to save to a drive so I can hand this off to someone.

I did not get a window to allow me to export it to a location.

    I feel so stupid.

Don't feel stupid - we all had to learn this stuff :)

When you click the Export tab you should see "Export method" and two options.
    Click Custom

That opens up a heap of stuff.

    Table(s) - click select All
Output - click Save outout to a file. For Compression choose zipped (though I always save one as none too)

Then ignore every other option, scroll to the bottom and click Go.

You should get the download start or be prompted for it.
It should land in your usual Download location.

See how that works for you?
