[resolved] How do I do a News Blog, Forum and Wiki All-In-One? (6 posts)

I'm starting a project for work that needs to be a WordPress CMS that integrates a news blog, a forum and a wiki (that would be available to desktop computers, as well as mobile and WebKit access).

I would like the functionality to where specific company-internal users can add news items to the blog, or use Share This from other websites to the WordPress news blog, and to the forum; I would like to have anybody able to sign up for the forums, and post under specific forum areas/topics; I would like everything that appears on the news blog and the forum to have wiki links to an internal wiki/document page; finally, I would like this to be accessible on mobile devices.

I know how to do each of these individually using WordPress, save for the forum, but I don't know how to even start to make a webspace that contains all three..

Should I have multiple installations of WordPress and use subdomains to divide these three areas? Can I do this with WordPress Multisite installation (I have no experience here)? Is there a way to make all three work in the same environment as a Super Admin?

Any help or guidance would be most appreciated.

you can do what you want with a single install and a couple of plugins
    for the forum
    http://simple-press.com/
    for the wiki

Thanks Samuel B, I thought I could but but what I'm confused upon is the mechanics of how to set up a blog and a forum in the same space, and to make all three at separate sub-domains.

With simple-press will it allow a separate forum, and a separate news blog? I have never made two blog in one WordPress space, let alone a blog and a forum in one space... is this possible? I know that some people have posts on here about how to run two blogs with one install, but I'm not sure if that is what I need to do, then just convert one of those to a forum...

Also, if my website is named http://www.tr123web.com, will the mentioned plugins be condusive to separate space requests that I can point/redirect to http://forum.tr123web.com, http://wiki.tr123web.com and http://news.tr123web.com?

This would have to be a Multisite install, correct? I was reading the documentation here.

hmm...I guess I didn't understand your intent originally
the plugins url's would be like
    http://www.triweb.com/forum
    http://www.triweb.com/wiki

if you used a static front page option,
    http://www.triweb.com/news

    not sure about sub domains
theoretically, you should be able to set up the multisite network with subdomains like you want - then network install the forum and wiki plugins - then set them up on the individual subdomains with the forum and wiki page set to static front page at their respective dashboards
    dashboard -settings - reading

still then it seems their would be multiple logins

So if I went the plugin route, the forum would be accessible/located at http://www.triweb.com/forum...

the wiki would be accessible/located to outside viewers at http://www.triweb.com/wiki...

and I can manage the forum, wiki, pages and add my news release posts to my blog at http://www.triweb.com/wp-admin/index.php, is that correct?
