• I’m not a WordPress user. But I found a site of yours here which has just taken a bunch of photos from my web site and posted them without my permission. I have tried to contact the site’s creators but they are not responding. Do I have any recourse here or am I just screwed?

  • There is no such thing as a “site of yours”. WordPress is publishing software that is installed by the end user.

You need to contact the owner of the site, or their host. No-one here has any control over what someone does on their own web space, least of all the developers of WordPress.

And linking to it — only did the person a favor.

Looks like the domain and hosting are in the Ukraine. This makes chasing after them in a court of law difficult, despite the fact that the Ukraine is a participating member of the Berne Convention.

The best you might be able to hope for is to play on any ignorance they have and write them (and copy their web host) a stern C&D/takedown letter. If they are ignorant of the law, that might do enough to scare them into submission. At the very least it *might* get their web site taken down for awhile. If this is a hobby site, they might then decide it’s not worth bothering with.

Good luck. It’s always frustrating when things like this happen.
