I'm using a template in which only half the sidebar is exactly what I want (ex. the three big links), however, the latter part with the clickable news and events section I want to get rid of. Please please help!

in general you need to edit your theme's sidebar.php and remove that stuff

if i simply remove it. i receive an error message when i use firefox. :/
