    style.css in your theme normally

    exactly how to do it is different in every theme, so a link to your site would help us to help you

    In your theme's style.css file.

    Well, the theme in question being Suffusion, changing the style.css file wouldn't work, because your skin-specific CSS file (like royal-blue.css) overrides style.css as far as colors are concerned. You should typically feed your changes into the "Custom Styles" option under your options page, Suffusion Theme Options -> Blog Features -> Custom CSS, JavaScript & RSS. Put in something like this:

    #horizontal-outer-widgets-1 {
        background-color: #ffffff;
    }

    Change the color to whatever you require.
    Note that putting it in the custom styles option keeps you safe from theme upgrades, as these settings don't get overwritten during upgrades unlike the changes to style.css.

    Hello Sayontan, First let me thank you for a superior theme. I am just now learning all the wonderful things it can do. I made the update to the custom css at it looks great!!

    Thank you again.
