How do I add an RSS Icon like the WordPress.com's 2010 theme setup?

Hello,
I found this old post (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/rss-twenty-ten) and followed DigitalRaindrop’s link. However, I would rather have the RSS icon below the search field and above the Category Specific RSS Menu (widget). How do I go about this?
