    Hello:

I have a blog on wordpress.com for which I purchased my own domain(www.employeerightswisconsin.com). I am trying to improve search engine optimization (SEO) on the blog. I spoke to an SEO expert, who strongly recommended that I download the All-in-One and Share This plug ins.

This has been a very confusing process. My understanding is that I CAN somehow set up plug ins-- despite plug ins not normally being available on a WordPress.com blog-- because I purchased my own domain. I've perused the forum looking for instructions, but this has confused me further (which is my problem, not the posters').

I see forum posts that address some of the problems I've found-- for example, the problem that downloaded plug-ins are instructed to be put in a folder ("wp-content/plugins") that does not exist on my computer. However, I have not found a laundry list to help me set up All-in-One and Share This in my situation, from beginning to completion.

Can anyone please give me step-by-step instructions on how I can download All-in-One and Share This, and get these functioning?

    Thanks!!
    Mike

If your blog is on WordPress.com, this usually means you won't be able to install any of your own plugins.

I guess my (silly) analogy would be: Buying a domain is like buying a frame for a picture. So the picture is your website (WordPress.com blog) and the domain name/frame makes it look more professional, as now people access your site via 'Employeerightswisconsin.com', rather than 'yourblog.wordpress.com'.

I believe you can customise your CSS by adding upgrades to your WordPress.com account. However, after checking through my WordPress.com admin settings, there's no option to add plugin-installation as an extra (for security reasons perhaps?)

So if you *do* want to get All-in-one and Share This! for your website, it seems the best thing would be to find a host and download and install WordPress itself. Then you'll have the freedom to install whichever plugins you prefer.
