How did someone follow my blog when I've repointed it? (5 posts)

I repointed my blog from old to new server when I transferred from wordpress.com to wordpress.org.

I know it's not possible to transfer your old followers to self-hosted blogs because the follow feature is just for wordpress.com blogs, but how come someone was still able to follow my old wordpress hosted blog?

When you go to the site vagabondrich.com it takes you to the new self-hosted blog so I don't understand how it's still possible for people to follow it?

    Any help hugely appreciated.

What domain name were you using on the old site? And can you clarify what you mean by "follow"?

The same domain name was used for both - vagabondrich.com so that didn't change when I transferred.

Sorry, by 'follow', I just mean button that allows you to follow a blog, as opposed to subscribe to it via email. It's just one button that you click on and then that 'follower' will get emailed when you do a new post, etc.

Do you know what I mean?

If you used the same url on both sites. anyone following the feed on the old site will probably still be able to access it via the new site.

Right. I'm just confused as to how I got a new 'follower' when the old wordpress hosted site isn't even available any more.
