How come I see two different dashboards? (3 posts)

    When I login at /wp-admin I have the main dashboard showing. But if I navigate to say 'Presentation' and then click on the 'Dashboard' link from there... I see a completely different dashboard at this address .../wp-admin/admin.php?page=index.php

    How can I remove this dashboard so that it shows the one at .../wp-admin?

    Hey. I know this post is ancient history, but I've been searching for a solution to this for a few weeks now -- this issue is mentioned on here in 9 or different posts, but no solution was ever offered. In one someone recommended disabling all plugins - I did that, and it didn't work. (I'm using 2.06)

    What I'm hoping for, which I think would be the easiest solution, is to remove the dashboard link that's dynamically added to the admin menu, and then just put a static link in it's place.

    I know how to add a static link, but how can I remove the dyanamic one?

    There is one plugin I cold use, custom admin menu, but it makes the whole menu static-like, so the count for akismet doesn't change.

    I'd rather just remove the link by hand.

    Any suggestions?

    Ok - I'm a total amateur here, but I found a hacky solution. If someone's as irritated by the 404 as I was, then feel free to do this - but be sure to backup your files.

    in wp-admin/menu.php remove line 7, eg :

    $menu[0] = array(__('Dashboard'), 'read', 'index.php');

    then, in wp-admin/menu-header.php, beneath <ul id="adminmenu"> add:

    <li><a href="/wp-admin/">Dashboard</a></li>

    (I'm not sure but if you have any submenus under dashboard, doing this might prevent you from accessing them. I don't, so I'm not too worried.)

    thanks, Ahni
