How can I use relative paths for scheduled posts?

    Hi Guys

    I’ve been having problems getting scheduled posts to work and it’s been driving me nutts, no matter what I tried I always got ‘Missed Schedule’

    Anyway I eventually contacted my hosting service provider (Heart Internet) here in the UK who informed me that they prevent scripts making HTTP (port 80) connections back to the same server that they’re running on, as policy…I should of contacted them sooner.

    They have recommended that I change the coding to use ‘relative paths’ for any file/files that the Scheduled Posts feature uses and needs to run.

    They gave me this as an example:

    instead of “http://slimmeryouguide.com/feed.xml” use “/home/sites/slimmeryouguide.com/public_html/feed.xml”.

    Can anyone tell which files I need to change in order to get this working?

    Relative paths simply don’t work well in WordPress. Heart Internet need to either change their policy or you need to move to a different host. There are better UK hosting companies.

    Thanks for the reply esmi…I’m sure there are but I have been with them for many years and this is the first time I’ve personally had an issue with their service so would really like a ‘work around’ if there’s one available.

    Incase anyone else wants to know, I used the solution in the thread link here:

    Seems to work but I dont know if there are any implications to using this method…also whenever cron is running the URL has /?doing_wp_cron tagged on the end of it.
