• I would like to uninstall wordpress from one of my sites. I tried deleting all the files, so currently the only thing my ftp program is showing is the new html files, including an index.html.

    But when I go to the site, I see “wordpress” without any css.

    This is what appears on the page:

    sitename
    search bar
    list of former pages
    and the standard sidebar:

    Not Found

    I don’t know where its getting all this, since apparently there are no wordpress files on the site at all.

    Do I have to go in and manually hack the database to pieces?

  • You have to delete ALL the core files, and then delete the database from your hosts control panel.

    Also you may need to delete or edit your .htaccess file.

    Well… that would be included in the definition of core files, would it not? 🙂 We would have to assume that file is even visible from his FTP program – if in fact he has it set to show all and hidden files. But …
