    hi

    WP: 2.8.5

I wonder how I can avoid the wordpress site I create to be indexed by serach engines? That's an odd question but the reason is that I don't want the site to be indexed before I have it ready... I fear that when I create the site and is configuring it, the crawler pays me a visit. The crawler don't see any interesting stuff (because I haven't had time to post any yet), and then for example google thinks my site is crap and sandbox it... So once I have content in place the search engine don't bother to crawl my site...

So I was looking for some kind of a setting to turn indexing off, also I hope it can be easy to swith it back on again once content is in place...

    any ideas?

admin/settings/privacy and then tick: I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

Just curious... did you even look?

That's interesting, I will remember that, thanks loginname for asking that one. It's so polite to be curious a lot better that condescending. It's easy to find something when you know where to look!!

Take a look at the Settings Privacy SubPanel article for the exact details of how that 'privacy' is accomplished.
