I always noticed my wordpress websites are a bit slower than other technologies websites. Is there a way to speed my website navigation?
1) Can a defined static homepage slow the arrival on the website?
2) Are there other specific "bad or not proper coding" that can slow the website? For example, my own technique is to change code of the default template to develop a totally different website...
3) What would you advise me to speed the website? Are there some WordPress functions that I am not using in a I could erase while I am using WordPress to develop a common website and not a blog?
4) Would you have any advise regarding the hosting services, provider? I am most of the time using the cheapest solutions like Godaddy, Netfirms, can I really improve speed results by using other services? Iy yes, what services please?
Thanks a lot!

Would you say that one or some of those plugins can slow navigation?
Do you know specific plugins that have for effect to slow navigation?
Thanks!

Hello. 9 months ago you posted a question on wordpress.com/support. Your original question was "How can I speed my wordpress website" -- which was answered, but you last 2 questions "Would you say that one or some of those plugins can slow navigation? Do you know specific plugins that have for effect to slow navigation?" were not. Did you ever figure that out?
Thanks!

Any plugin that has to go out and collect data, feeds, etc., will slow it. The following deals quite a lot with different things that can slow it and/or things that can speed it up: http://wordpress.shadowlantern.com/2009/01/reducing-cpu/
