• I was able to add “Recent Posts” to the left sidebar using a widget; however, I would prefer for it to be in the right sidebar.

How can I set up “Recent Posts” in the right sidebar?

    My blog is at writerhoward.com.

    Thanks,
    Howard

  • I’m guessing since you are here that you have tried to simply drag the widget from the left to the right on the widgets page and that does not work?

I didn’t try that because I think that when you do that you lose all the existing stuff in the right sidebar. Am I not correct about that?

Assuming your theme allows it–if you are not using Widgets on your right sidebar, then could use the postbypost parameter with the template tag, wp_get_archives().

How would I know if my theme allows it?

If I did, would they show in the Widgets page? If yes, I haven’t any widgets in the right sidebar.

Just meant, if your theme allows you to specify widgets for your left and right sidebar, and you don’t have widgets assigned to your right side bar, then you could try the template tag I suggested.

Go ahead and drag it over to the right sidebar. You’ll be able to see all of the content that is being used in the sidebar just below the widgets panel. If you mess it up, you can drag all of the sidebar contents out and it will restore to the default that came with the theme.
