Hi everyone. I’m having a hard time since I accidentally deleted from my hosting cpanel a database which contained a whole WP site.

I don’t have any backups of the database (like a .sql file I wish I had right now), but I do have all the files and folders from the FTP.

The thing is, I created a new database and got the install menu and the Hello World screen (as if I were starting from scratch – no themes, no plugins, no nothing!) but this is a site that actually took me a lot of time and effort.

I was wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else, and if there’s a way to recover a database or to have the site fully running just using the WordPress files I have on my FTP. Any help or comments will be appreciated 🙂

Thanks for reading, have a happy new year!

    Nope.

if there’s a way to recover a database

Ask your web host if they have a backup for you. That’s your only hope.

Hi songdogtech, thanks for your reply. I actually solved this one pretty quickly. I contacted my hosting providers and they had a recent backup of the database. Phew!

    Regards from Argentina
