How can I manipulate sidebar items? (6 posts)

    Hello

    I have a blank sidebar with the option of using a sidebar widget. I would like to put some photos or other items in the sidebar, but when I put the first item in, it is too high up on the page. I would prefer that it be about 1/3 of the way down the page. But it automatically goes all the way up on the top right.

    How can I create some blank space so that the first item shows up in the sidebar farther down the page?

    Thank you for your help!

    difficult to give the answer without seeing the theme, but I thing for sure - all you need is to make changes in style.css
    you can increase margin-top to the first div in sidebar or place an empty div with fixed height in your sidebar

    OK, so I have been poking around in my style.css file. Which of the following values do I change? Remember, I am using a widget in my sidebar:
    ----------------------

    #sidebar {
    	display: block;
    	border: 0px;
    	padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
    	margin: 0px 0px 0px 20px;
    	z-index: 5;
    	position: absolute;
    	top: 182px;
            left: 0px;
    }

    #sidebar ul {
    	width:720px;
    	min-height: 30px;
    	list-style-type: none;
    	padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
    	margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
    	z-index: 500;
    	font-weight: bold;
    	font-size: 1.2em;
    	font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', 'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;
    }

    #sidebar li {
    	display: inline;
    	min-height: 20px;
            position: relative;
            float: left;
    	text-align: left;
    	padding: 5px 16px 5px;
    	margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
    }

    #sidebar h2 {
    	padding: 0px;
    	margin: 0px;
    	font-size: 1em;
    }

    #sidebar li ul {
    	width: 150px;
    	height: auto;
    	top: 100%;
    	left: 0px;
    	font-weight: normal;
    	font-size: 1em;
    }

    #sidebar li.LargeMenu ul {
    	width: 200px;
    	height: auto;
    	top: 100%;
    	left: 0px;
    }

    #sidebar li ul li {
    	text-align: left;
    	width: 118px;
    	height: auto;
    	min-height: auto;
    	display: block;
    }

    #sidebar li.LargeMenu ul li {
    	text-align: left;
    	width: 198px;
    	height: auto;
    	min-height: auto;
    	display: block;
    }

    #sidebar a {
    	text-decoration: none;
    	}

    #sidebar li li ul {
    	top: 0;
    	left: 0;
    }

    #sidebar li li:hover ul {
    	left: 150px;
    }

    /* initialy hide all sub sidemenus */
    #sidebar ul ul,
    #sidebar ul li:hover ul ul,

    #sidebar ul ul ul ul li:hover ul,
    #sidebar ul ul ul ul ul li:hover ul {
