[resolved] How can I make Multiselect on a Meta Data or OR instead of AND (10 posts)

    Hi there,

I have a form field (Post Meta Data, Multiple Select List) included in the search form. You can see it here: http://www.wccc.ie/parents/childcare-in-your-area/?action=search

I notice that if I multiselect elements from my list (Childcare Types) it sends the query as an AND and not an OR. What I mean is if I select 3 items that I know are on a listing it will return that business listing. But if I select those 3 and an extra one that I know is not on the business listing it does not return the listing.

Where in the code could I make this an OR for each selected attribute instead of an AND as I think that makes more sense.

    Thanks a million,

    Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

That sounds like a bug on multiselect. We'll get that fixed.

Thanks a mil. It sort of fixes the problem... the multi select is still not working right.

    Go to: http://www.wccc.ie/parents/childcare-in-your-area/

Click "Advanced Search". Choose "North Wicklow" and click "Search".. you will see my one result correctly. Note that I have 3 "childcare types" in the result called "Full-Day-Care, Sessional, ECCE".

Now, change the search criteria to include one of those... for example "Sessional" and click search again. It's not returned in the results any more.... but if you select "ECCE" it is.

Thanks a mil for the help... really need this one to work out.

Another example for you... it seems to always only include the LAST multiselect option in the search clause....

Go to http://www.wccc.ie/parents/childcare-in-your-area/ and select "East/South Wicklow" and click search. You get one result. It has 4 childcare types "Full Day Care, Sessional, CETS, CCS". Now adding any of those types to the search criteria EXCEPT the LAST one fails to return it in the search.

    Thanks a million,

    A
