I'm using the permalink structure: /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html after moving from blogger to wordpress. Unlike with blogger, each time I update old posts on wordpress and change the date to appear on top, the month figure in the URL changes, thereby altering the url.
Example a post with url http://www.domain.com/2011/04/gates-cambridge.html published in April changes to http://www.domain.com/2011/11/gates-cambridge.html when I repost in november.
Please is there any way I can maintain the old url?

You may refer this article, find the section "Fixing permalinks for imported post", hope that will help you.
Note: Make sure to take backup of your WordPress database before making the changes.
Thanks.

Thanks for the response Nitun but that isn't what I am looking for. I've accomplished the steps from the above link. What I'm trying to achieve now is to be able to update old posts (and bring it to the top as a new post) rather than creating an entirely new post, without altering the existing url.
Any suggestion on this?
