    Hi Everyone,

I'm really having very tough time in wordpress. The scenario is I've purchased a theme and uploaded it to my site. I just want to add a page named "Member's area" and install activecollab(project management) software in it, which I already have in a setup form by the way.

My question is how to do this ? Active collab asks to put the setup in a folder where you need to install it and it installs in the same folder(in other words, it unpacks itself in the same folder), but I wasn't able to find the member's area page that I created several times in my host's file manager.

Where can I find the path so that I can install it ?

All Pros out there your help is much appreciated. Thank you very much.

install activecollab(project management) software in it

This is not possible. WordPress displays content that you've created: posts, pages, photos, music, etc. But you can't add other software to it.

What you want to do is to create a subdomain for that project management software and install it there. You can then add a link to it anywhere on your blog.

Thank you for the reply Kjodle !

I'd like to ask I there is any other way other than purchasing the subdomain. If I shift to Joomla, will it solve my problem ? also is Joomla easy to use just like wordpress. I like the user friendly environment of wordpress as I'm a newbie and using wordpress is like a breeze as It is the very first time on my site and hosting.

what will be your opinion ? what should I do ?

    Thanks Heaps

You shouldn't have to purchase a subdomain. My host lets me have all the free ones I want.

I have no idea about Joomla. I have heard it's easier to use than Drupal, but not as easy as WordPress.

You might be able to get by without a subdomain, depending on how you've installed WordPress. And it might be possible to get some of that project management to display in WordPress, but it would require a fair amount of coding. How familiar are you with PHP?

    Woolaa ! :)

Kjodle, I've achieved what I wanted. In the wordpress even without sub domain and without any extra coding at all. Isn't that simply awesome ? :)

I'm checking again to make sure every thing is working the way I intended, then I'll let you know in detail how I managed to do that.

    Thanks

    Hello Kjodle

I've checked it again and again and It's working perfectly. I'd like to write it here so that if any one is having the same problem they can fix it and it'll help a lot more users who are having difficulties.

What I did was, I created a folder in my main directory named "1" but anyone can put any name "bla bla bla" then in the folder I again created a folder named "activecollab" and installed software on it.It looked like this"mydomain.com/1/activecollab" The reason for creating multiple folders was that for some reason when I was installing the software, it was wiping out my entire wordpress site leaving just only the software working on it's own and the site was gone ! This was the only way it worked for me. Then I created another page named "Member's area", password protected it so that only few people can visit the page. Created a text block "login here" and linked it where the software was installed and Wooola !!! it worked. It's opening the software with out wiping out my site and working the way I wanted and without any single edit in the style sheet or any sort of coding at all !

The sub domain idea was a good one too I appreciate that but at that time I didn't know that my host provide me the subdomains I need So I worked that way.

any way thanks for your co-operation Kjodle. Thank you for your participation. Thank you very much

    Hammad
