i have http://www.domainname.com and I want that page to be my main website page so i loaded up all the code and I want it to come up when people go to my main site. I have seen someone do it in word prss where they have their index.html in wordpress, but for the perm link it is just set at http://www.domainname.com . I want to do the same thing and I can not find it on the site.

If I understand you correctly, I think this explain things, especially if you read it in the context of the relevant info on the rest of this page:

Actually no that is not it...

On the site the permlink was

    http://www.domainname.com/

the permlink field was blank and i think for the title it was $index

the code for the web page was the code that if someone went to http://www.domainname.com it was what was updated when they went their.... on the other pages, it would be http://www.domainname.com/about

so this is where i want the main domain page set up and it keeps putting the title in the permlink or i have to put something in there so it would be http://www.domainname.com/index/

i want to get rind of the /index/ on my main pages and for other pages it should be what i use in the permlink field

the code for the web page was the code that if someone went to http://www.domainname.com it was what was updated when they went their.... on the other pages, it would be http://www.domainname.com/about

That's where you lose me, and I think it's just because you're overcomplicating it. So, domainname.com was the blog and domainname.com/about was a page?

so this is where i want the main domain page set up and it keeps putting the title in the permlink or i have to put something in there so it would be http://www.domainname.com/index/

i want to get rind of the /index/ on my main pages and for other pages it should be what i use in the permlink field

So, I'm guess you want something like domainname.com/about to be the main page, but you want it to appear as domainname.com ?

    If so, follow this guide:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

If that's not what you want, please be more descriptive. Believe it not, real links to your site actually help.
