How can I change or translate the author page hierarchy?

I need to develop a section for the Art Signal Magazine’s website (www.art-signal.com) that should show the Basic or Extended Profile information about the authors. I am reading the documentation about the Authors Templates, the Template Hierarchy and so on. This site have both an English and Spanish version, and I already was able to create this address using the author.php method:

But now the issue is how to traslate the english “author” string into the spanish word, “autor”. Or maybe, using “community” and “comunidad” for that, using URLs like these:

http://magazine.art-signal.com/en/author/admin/
http://magazine.art-signal.com/es/autor/admin/

or

http://magazine.art-signal.com/en/community/admin/
http://magazine.art-signal.com/es/comunidad/admin/

As far as I know, I guess that somewhere in the core of WordPress must exist some code to apply the query sequence: 1. author.php, 2.archive.php, 3.index.php.
My question is: Is it possible to replace the author.php query with autor.php or whatever.

Or anyway, Is there a better way to achive that aim?
