How to access posts via calendar dates?

    In the most recent version of WordPress, I wish to display images of a diary and transcription online.

    I would like the user to be able to access each day of the diary by clicking on a date in a calendar, perhaps by assigning a post (ie: an image and transcription on a page) to each date. Is there a plugin for this purpose? Or perhaps alternative solutions?
