How about a time-limit on comments? (6 posts)

Here's an idea for a new feature to help fight spam: a time-limit on when comments can be added to a post. So after, say, a month, no-one can comment any more on a post (unless you manually change the settings for a particular post).

I used that plugin for some time, however with trackback spam then becoming the weapon of choice among spammers, it was rendered useless.

If you want to stop spam:
    1 - http://www.ioerror.us/software/bad-behavior/
    2 - http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/dev/
That's all there is to it :)

podz, brings up a li'l problem I had lately: I had to deactivate spam karma (have bad behavior installed too, as well as referrer bouncer and spam assassin) - for some reason it decided all of a sudden to not allow ANY comments on any of my blogs. Not from me, not from anyone (sent one to a US gov't page about spam *shrug*). Nothing had changed.... it also refused to update the blacklist - don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

Anyway, I'm using referrer bouncer still, spam assassin, and bad behavior, seems to be doing a fine job without spam karma....

Tried to the other day, but couldn't get his site to load (not his fault - my crap dialup connection....) and hadn't remembered to try again. I'll go do that now. Thanks for reminding me.... s'what happens when your memory gets to be as old as mine is!

[Edit - appears to be a newer version than the one I'm using; I'll reinstall before saying anything, likely a new version will help. Thanks again, podz.)
