Hover link to pop-up text window. Suggestions? (11 posts)

    Hi.
Saw something recently which I though would be great for my company's website.
Basic idea is user hovers the mouse over a specific word in the post (usually a difficult or technical term), and then a small pop-up window appears (near the mouse arrow) with a brief descriptive text/sentence explaining what that term means. User hovers out, and the window disappears.

Any suggestion for a nice and clean plug-in to do this?

    Thanks.

Are you referring to abbreviation or acronym markup?

    hmmm... abbreviation or acronym markup?
    Not really sure... lets see...

Imagine I use a word like 'xptozed' in the middle of a post or text paragraph. Not a usual word, so I would like for it to be underlined in some way, so that if the user hovers the mouse over that word, a small box would pop-up with the word definition/concept.

Can that be used with some simple tag I'm not aware of?
Or do I need some plugin and definition list to work that out?

    Thanks!

Hmmm... thanks! So it was right there...
I'll make sure to open both eyes next time, before coming here and wasting people's time.

    Thanks again!

Cool! Any chance of a link to a page where it's being used? I'd really like to see how the plugin handles the markup needed.

I don't think you have to understand the portuguese language to see this plugin at work. If you go to this page, you can already find some dotted underlined words:

I wonder if anyone know if I can do the same thing but instead of showing the explaining of a word, I would like to have a photo/image.

Anyone have any good ideas for me?

    Thanks,
    Karim
