As a site grows it would be good to have a system in place in the core of WordPress to add media into specific folders in the Media Library.

Posts grouped into folders in the Posts area.

It would be a way of storing objects not often used. Click a folder and the grouped posts or media objects become visible. On a day to day basis they reside in the folder out of the way.

Just wondering when something like this will be in place in WordPress or if it is planned....
Or someone could just give me information about a plugin, but this is though something that really should be added into the core though.

  2. There should be a couple plugins out there that allow for categorizing of images, but yeah, that's a lacking feature in the media library.

Posts grouped into folders, though, you're thinking about that wrong. We call 'em categories, and you can totally sort by that on the post pages :)

Hey man. I feel like your my lucky Elf...:)

Yeah I forgot about the sorting by Categories function. Thanks for the reminder!

Sorting the media library. Hmm I have a feeling I glanced a post at the wp develop site that gallery and media library has been pushed aside that no one is picking it up. Hopefully someone within Core will pick up the thread and continue to refine this feature.

  4. If you mean the ideas forums, don't think of that as the 'this is what will happen' site, but more a ... velcrometer :) Everyone throws stuff up, we try to see what'll stick.
