   update:

   It seems to be the left and right double quotes, and a funky microsoft carriage return from cut and paste.

   perhaps a way to have WP strip out the ^M and all that ?

   Dont know what to say, this has happened a few times.

   You spend a long time writing something real and informative, not some average spam. Then you hit save and poof the only thing left is half of the first sentence.

   Any ideas ?

   ( if an upgrade would solve it, then only if a later version specifically fixes this issue )

   So what you're saying is that you created your document in a MS based editor, then copied and pasted to wordpress, but you don't have a copy of the original document stored locally, and hours of your work is gone? C'mon... :-)

   Any ideas ?

   Yes. See if the "paste from Word" feature on your toolbar in the wordpress editor takes care of those formatting issues for you, or you might try a plain text editor. You could also try pasting from Word to Notepad ( or your favorite plain text editor ) and get rid of the formatting that way before posting.
