• I had a wordpress site that I was really happy with, but when my credit card expired I unknowingly allowed my site to be taken down by the host. Now I have my hosting up and running again, but I don’t know how to reconnect my wordpress site to my host, and GoDaddy hasn’t been able to explain how to do this either. Where do I find my old files to upload them again?

I’m a total novice too, so I don’t really understand anything about wordpress or computers, but always find a way to make it work. Be gentle please!

  • Did you have some sort of file and database backup that you downloaded to your PC?

If not, and your CC expired and hosting account was really closed by either GoDaddy or some other web host, your site is gone for good. Ask your old host if they happen to have an old backup for you.

Ahhh! I’m not tech savvy at all, so I didn’t know I should be backing it up. I thought we were in the age that if you put something out there on the internet, it was out there forever. I’m so crushed that it’s gone!

Can’t tell if that’s <sarcasm>, but you can try a Bing search for your domain and see if there are cached copies. Google doesn’t link cached sites anymore.
