Changed host over the holiday. Host restored my .gz file and I can see all my files in cpanel, under public_html.

My home page now shows as the wordpress 5min install page. How do I fix it so my regular site with my files from my wp-content appear?

Did you copy the database as well, or just the files?

The host restored the files originally under pubil_htms>southshorehomesma.com. They then instructed me to move the files to just public_html, which I did, still the same. I believe the config file reflects the new host info, if that's what you're refering to.

You have to move the sql database as well as the files. If you just move the files, you will be prompted to set up a database.

So, move the sql only or both the sql and phpmyadmin? and where? also under public_html, and is it possible that it's moved already and I don't know how to find it.

Thanks for your help, I promise to get smart in a minute or two!

It's possible that the database is there but the name or password has changed, so wp-config.php can't connect to it.

You should be able to tell whether or not a WordPress database is there by logging into your hosting control panel and going to phpmyadmin. If you don't see it there, then it isn't.

Just looked at my config folder, just to make sure. My user name and password seem to match the DB settings in mysql, also checked phpmyadmin and the DB is there as well.

Check wp-config.php in the main folder.

Are you able to look into the database and verify that your data is there?

Your hosting company can probably resolve this for you for free.

If your database is there, then there is something in the configuration that is preventing WordPress from connecting to the database. I would suggest not changing anything else and letting your hosting tech support look at it.

You're going to love this, this is their answer: " See I think since your previous backup did not work, I suggest that you install wordpress right from scratch and just transfer your data."

Does this make sense, it seems like I'm so close, but not even close!

Plus, I have ver.3.2.1 wouln't that create a conflict when moving files to ver.3.3?
