Homepage showing 404 error with new installation

I just installed WP 3.3.2 on a new domain. I originally installed it using Fantastico from cpanel, but the homepage was showing a 404 error, so I deleted that, downloaded the file from WP.org and installed it manually. Same problem.

I can get into the admin panel, and I can view the sample page and post or create new pages and posts that show up, but I get nothing on the root domain. I tried adding /index.php to see if that would make a difference, but it didn’t. I also tried changing the default homepage from posts to the sample page, but still no results. Suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
