Hello,
I'm not an SEO expert or a WP expert so please bear with me.
Basically I want to give a facelift to an old photography website built using basic html by using a stylish full screen WP theme. The theme I have in mind uses a very minimal homepage layout with just full screen slider images and not real text. Now, how does one go about optimizing such a homepage for SEO? The current site uses a lot of text on the homepage and does quite well in the search engines (google mainly) but the look lets it down. The content of the old website would be used in other pages of the new WP website (about, services etc) so the content theoretically would still be there just in different locations.
So, does this style of design and lack of homepage content have a detrimental effect on SEO practices?
Thanks
Andrew
I think it depends on where the content originally was and where the content will be in the new theme (and if it has the same structure like before). But I think your question is hard to answer without knowing the site.

Hello and thanks for the reply.
I am mostly concerned about the homepage and how this will be effected by SEO. As advised, all of the 'old' content (mainly text) will be on the new site, just in different pages, for example much of the original homepage content will be moved to an 'about us' page etc. But, using a photography WP theme there will be little, if any, text on the actual home or .index page. I know SEO isn't just about the homepage but does have very little information on the home page effect SEO?
Thanks
Andrew
